Microsoft has released a new version of the Update Assistant tool to update computers to Windows 10 21H2 (November 2021 update) when the biennial update is not available through Windows Update.
The tool was developed to update devices to the new version of Windows 10 if they do not automatically receive the feature update due to problems with the Windows update mechanism or for another unknown reason, but the hardware and software configuration are compatible in in this case with the November 2021 update.
The update wizard is like the Media Creation Tool. The difference, however, is that you can only upgrade in-place to the latest version that is available at the time.
Download Windows 10 21H2 using Update Assistant
If you can’t wait, you can use the update wizard to update a computer to version 21H2. However, it is never recommended to install a new version as soon as it becomes available, even more so if the computer did not receive the notification.
While the tool provides a non-destructive installation process, it is recommended that you take a full backup before making any system changes.
Use the following steps to download a system using the update wizard and update it to Windows 10 21H2:
In the Windows 10 November 2021 Update section, click the Update Now button.
Double-click the Windows10Upgrade9252.exe file to start setup.
Click the Update Now button.
Click the Restart Now button.
Once you complete the steps, the Windows 10 21H2 files will be downloaded to the computer and the update process will begin keeping your files, apps, and settings unchanged. The update wizard should normally take less than an hour to complete.
If you already have version 21H1, 20H2, or 2004, this method is not recommended because it will perform a full reinstallation. Instead, you should update using Windows Update settings, as the installation quickly becomes a monthly cumulative update.
You should only consider using the upgrade tool to install the new version on a device running Windows 10 Version 1909 (November 2019 Update) or an earlier version. Also, make sure to use this guide before proceeding to avoid problems and errors during the upgrade process.
